Prosecutors yesterday raided the headquarters of LG Electronics as a part of their ongoing investigation into allegations that some of its executives vandalized washing machines of rival Samsung Electronics at German shops earlier this year.
A team of prosecutors and investigators of the Seoul District Prosecutors’ Office probing the case said they secured relevant documents and computer hard disks from the office in central Seoul.
They also combed through LG Electronics’ home appliance factory in the southeastern city of Changwon.
The prosecution office said it has obtained emails of up to seven senior executives of LG, including Jo Seong-jin, president of the home appliance division.
In September, Samsung asked the prosecution to investigate the executives, claiming that they had deliberately damaged several of its premium washing machines on display at retail chain shops ahead of a global electronics show in the German capital of Berlin.
